Call for 2023 Research Fellows

The George “Trey” Pharis Fellowship Program is a 10-week, full-time summer research program that provides undergraduates the opportunity to address and understand social determinants of health (SDoH) by curating projects at the intersection of data science principles and techniques. The faculty-mentored fellowship, offered by the Honors College’s Data and Society Program, will allow its participants to work with large-scale data sets in the Houston community through student-led research projects. Additionally, each fellow will obtain a $6,000 program stipend.

Applications for 2023 summer fellowships are open. All UH undergraduates in any major are eligible to apply, but priority is given to students in the Data and Society program. Research activities are sponsored by the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Data Science Institute and the Humana Integrated Health System Sciences Institute.

For more information, please visit the Honors College website or contact Andrew Kapral, Director of Engaged Data Science. The deadline to apply is Mar. 10, 2023.
