The HPE Data Science Institute hosts events to advance research, education, and industry engagement in data science, AI, and computational technologies. These events provide UH students, faculty, and data researchers with opportunities to explore innovations in research and foster interdisciplinary collaborations. 

AI Industry Symposium and Career Mixer

The AI Industry Symposium and Career Mixer, sponsored by Chevron, connects students with industry leaders in artificial intelligence. The event features expert discussions on AI-driven advancements across sectors such as energy and healthcare, a career panel, and a networking mixer where students engage directly with representatives from top organizations.  

AI and Data Science Showcase 

The AI and Data Science Showcase highlights outstanding undergraduate research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and neural networks. The showcase encourages student teams to take collaborative, cross-disciplinary approaches in the rapidly evolving fields of AI and data science. 

AI Research and Teaming Workshop 

The AI Research and Teaming Workshop fosters collaboration among UH faculty across the social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering in artificial intelligence research. The workshop features faculty presentations on current challenges and funding opportunities in key sectors, followed by breakout sessions to facilitate team formation. Seed funding is available for the most promising proposals.  

Shared Events

HPE DSI co-sponsors events that support interdisciplinary learning and research in data science, AI, and high-performance computing. These events include hands-on workshops, seminars, and training. 

NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute  

The NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) provides training for developers, data scientists, and researchers to build practical skills in AI, accelerated computing, and deep learning. 

HPC Society 

HPE DSI partners with the Society of HPC Professionals in Houston to promote events that advance high-performance computing. 

UH Libraries 

In partnership with UH Libraries, HPE DSI hosts the Data Management Workshop series sharing best practices for data management along with available resources and guidance. 

Digital Humanities Core 

HPE DSI co-sponsors programming of the Digital Humanities Core facility at UH, including the DH@UH events.
