*The Micro-credential in High-Performance Computing will replace the High-Performance Computing Certificate.
Registration
Here are the steps to register for micro-credential courses through the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Data Science Institute (HPE DSI):
For University of Houston System (UHS) Students, Faculty, and Staff:
- Login to Moodle: Access the Moodle platform using your UH credentials. Ensure you are connected to the campus WIFI or the UH VPN to gain access.
- Sign Up for Courses: Navigate to the course listings and sign up for each course you wish to take as part of the micro-credential program.
For Non-UH/Alumni Participants:
- Complete Payment: Pay the course fee of $250.00 per course at least three (3) weeks before the course start date. The payment URL and instructions are available on the respective course page.
- Notify HPE DSI: After making the payment, email the HPE Data Science Institute at least three (3) weeks before the course begins. This will allow adequate time for processing your course access credentials before the first-class meeting.
- Login to Moodle: Access the Moodle platform using your UHS credentials. Ensure you are connected to the campus WIFI or the UH VPN to gain access.
- Sign Up for Courses: Navigate to the course listings and sign up for each course you wish to take as part of the micro-credential program.
After Course Completion
1. Filing the Badge Application Form:
- Submission: Once all required courses are completed, fill out the Micro-credential Badge Application Form (available on each Micro-credential program page) to officially receive your badge.
- Share: You can link your HPE DSI badges to a Badgr account and share them on professional platforms like LinkedIn. This helps you showcase your achievements to potential employers and academic networks.
2. Receive Micro-Credential Badge: Upon successfully completing the required courses, the HPE DSI will automatically award you the Micro-credential badge at the end of the semester.
- Link to Badgr Account: To share your badge, create a Badgr account (if you don’t already have one) and link your HPE DSI badges to your Badgr account. You can then share your accomplishments on platforms like LinkedIn.
3. Retroactive Badges:
- Eligibility: If you have completed any of the required courses since the Spring 2019 semester, email the HPE DSI to petition for retroactive badges.

Yes, all courses are delivered online on the Moodle platform.
UH students can register through Moodle, while non-UH participants must complete the payment process and notify the HPE Data Science Institute via email three weeks before the course starts to receive access credentials.
Yes, if you have completed any of the required courses since Spring 2019, you can petition for retroactive badges by contacting the HPE Data Science Institute.
- Enter the sign in credentials for your Badgr account in the Moodle Backpack page to request to connect.
- If successful, the backpack status will change to “Verification pending”.
- Check the email account you registered with Badgr for a verification email from HPE DSI.
- Click on the verification link in the email to confirm and activate the connection of your Moodle backpack to your Badgr backpack.
- If successful, the link will take you to your Moodle Backpack page and the status will change to "connected".
